RPDAC Meeting Focuses on NLC Project-Affected People

A significant Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) meeting was held to discuss the concerns of people affected by the NLC projects in the Jharsuguda and Sambalpur regions. The meeting brought together elected representatives, district administration officials and other stakeholders to review issues related to rehabilitation, compensation, employment and development in project-affected areas. Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan, Rengali MLA Sudarshan Haripal, along with senior officials, participated in the discussions.

The meeting placed particular emphasis on ensuring that families affected by industrial and mining projects receive appropriate rehabilitation and development support. Issues such as compensation, employment opportunities, self-employment assistance and skill-development programmes were discussed as part of the broader rehabilitation process. A sub-committee is also being constituted to examine the grievances of affected residents and identify practical solutions. The development is politically important for Jharsuguda because land acquisition, rehabilitation and employment remain major concerns in areas surrounding large industrial projects.
